ANTIHISTAMINES:

Antihistamines are a group of medications that help relieve the symptoms of allergies: runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing. They also can play some part in relieving congestion due to viral URI's. The most common antihistamine we use is Benadryl. Antihistamines can make some children sleepy whereas some other children become more irritable and nervous. Antihistamines also play a role in relieving itching due to rashes and insect bites. They help control allergic reactions, which lead to hives. Please see Benadryl for dosing information.
