NOSEBLEEDS
Nosebleeds are very common throughout childhood. They are usually caused by
nasal dryness, rubbing, picking and vigorous blowing. When a child gets a nosebleed,
sit up and lean her forward slightly. Pinch the soft parts of the nose together
for 10 minutes. Don’t release the pressure. Have child breath through
her mouth. If bleeding hasn’t stopped, reapply pressure for another 10
minutes.
Call office:
- Bleeding hasn’t stopped after 20 minutes of pressure
Helpful hints:
- Use vaporizer/humidifier in room at night to moisten the air.
- Try Vaseline twice a day to inside of nose apply with a Q-tip.
- Use 2-3 drops of warm water in nose before blowing if stuffy.
